Armon Carmelo Applewhite, also known as ‘Melo’ is a recording artist from Manhattan, New York now residing in Dallas, Texas. The artist has a lot of projects to look forward to in the upcoming seasons and is just getting his name out there. From being consistently dedicated to his work as long as he remembers, pushing past adversities, and still pursuing his dreams, Melo speaks more on his upcoming endeavors.
“Currently working on several different projects, one specifically focused on music and my first project is “Royal Decree” slated to release Nov. 25th. Each musical project I release will initially focus on different areas of my life growing up from a child, to my teens, and my adult life. I just recently did a show at a Tattoo Expo about a week and a half ago in Allen, Texas, but you'll start seeing more of me at local open mic events in the city, really just engaging with others and showcasing my talents as an artist.”
Melo is known to be hardworking, creative, and a visionary when it comes to his demeanor and work ethic. Melo is on the right path despite the hardships he grew up in and overcame. Melo has been through a lot. “I’m a praying man and know that I got God and family in my corner. I’ve been doing this by myself for about 2 years now so I’ve had to learn a lot on my own and pick the brains of others who have been in the business a while. In life I’ve experienced a lot of trial and error. I’ve made plenty of mistakes but know that there is a lesson and a blessing in everything that we do. Things happen for a reason in life and when they do happen you have to figure out your next move and keep things pushing forward.” Melo stays motivated. His hardships have made him who he is and Melo does not stop pushing. Because of his consistent work, he is now an upcoming and talented artist coming out of Dallas.
What is inspiring you right now consistently to work on your endeavors?
Just keeping the faith and understanding your dreams without work will forever remain dreams. You have to have a vision for yourself and your future. My dream has always been to be involved with music and love to write. I like being told that I can’t do something because it only motivates me further to go achieve that goal and lets me know I’m on the right path.
What piece of advice do you want others to take back from the work you display?
Do not be afraid of the power you possess as an individual. If you have a vision and work towards achieving that, nothing can stop you. Be smart with your finances, write down your short term goals and work towards those, make smart business decisions when dealing with others, and keep people around who will celebrate you, pray with you and hold you accountable.
Who were the most influential people in your life?
Most influential people I would say are my family members, my folks, my siblings, cousins, etc. as they have played a huge part in my life influencing my growth as a person.
Melo’s hardships have made him want to keep pushing despite anything. His work remains unique and worthy. “Well, as an artist I can tell you the biggest obstacles for me were financing my music journey, and finding the proper balance between showcasing my talent and properly establishing a social media footprint to market myself. Initially, I was only focused on making the music, finding the right sound for the message I want to convey to my listeners. Overtime I have realized that this is an industry that derives heavy on business and marketing.. If I want people to invest in me then I need to market myself more, let people know who I am and what I represent outside of music. So far things have panned out well.”
