LaNecia Gradney, also known as ‘Lucid’, is a painting artist and barber originally from Fort Lewis, Washington. She grew up in Leonville, Louisiana, and now resides in Euless, Texas. As a diverse and unique artist, she has had numerous projects that have caught the eye of others. From writing poetry, cutting hair, and painting masterpieces, she remains consistent on her journey, and is constantly improving. Known as sensual, artistic and free, Lucid explains the journey of her work.
“I am currently working on getting my barber brand out there to build up more clientele, my art and the face behind the art, as well as writing more poetry and the courage to eventually put it out there to share. The amount of impact that I have on other artists when it comes to my art and women when it comes to being my own person and being nothing but free. It inspires them and to tell you the truth, the people I meet everyday inspire and impact me as well.” Lucid is now putting in a lot of effort to display her skills, one day to achieve the highest level of success. She is on the right path to do so.
Lucid speaks of her inspiration and what helps her get through rough times. “All praise to the most High, without Him I’m not sure where I’d be. I still struggle with things but I’m constantly praying for faith and strength. Focusing on me more instead of other people and what they’ve accomplished. I am on my very own path so I embrace everything that comes my way, the good, the bad and the ugly.” Her goals and the reasons she pursues them set her up for success in all she undertakes.
Where are you from?
I am originally from Fort Lewis, Washington but I grew up in Leonville, Louisiana since at the age of 3 months. I always rep Louisiana, that’s really my home and the food is the absolute best!

As a business owner, what are some obstacles you have had to overcome to get where you are at?
Ooh that’s a good one. Heartbreak. Heartbreak got me to where I am now. I have become extremely more independent, more open to allow me to show people who I really am (my clients love it), and to even tap all the way into my creative side. I am a lot more responsible than I was before and it helps me make better decisions.
What do you have coming up right now that you want others to know about?
Barber and painting classes. Still getting the details figured out but I am really excited about it. I love sharing anything I know with people and I do love learning from others as well. Engaging with others on a creative level really lights up my soul.
As a result of the COVID-19 epidemic, a lot of big-crowd events, like concerts and festivals, were banned in 2021. This was because of restrictions put in place by both the city and the federal government. As a result, the number of chances for artists to show off their skills has been dramatically cut down. However, Lucid remained steadfast through it all. “Whatever you put out, always make sure your heart is in it. Look at it as it’s your last day to show the world what you can do, except do it everyday. Put your all into everything you create but don’t forget to rest.”
Lucid mentions within the interview that certain individuals in her life have inspired her to be great, starting from her own family. “Definitely my sister Leah aka Lola. She suffers from depression and I’ve learned a lot from her. Life is hard sometimes and if she can keep going after everything she has been through so can I. And my daughter, Leighanna. She is the reason I am still here today, she loves me unconditionally and is always telling me how I’m going to be famous one day. She reminds me that I am a superwoman and that no one can do what I do. For that, I appreciate her so much. I appreciate them both and without them there wouldn’t be me. ” Lucid will be successful in achieving her goal because she never gives up, and in order to keep her position at the top, she can only see success in the years to come.
