Boosa Smoove

SEPTEMBER 2023- COLUMBIA, MISSOURI-

Boosa Smoove is a musical artist and pre-medical student from the Khartoum, Sudan area, now residing near Jefferson City, Missouri, in Columbia. Boosa Smoove built his music on his great skills and love for what he did. He works hard and aims to get to the top and do well in everything he does now and in the future. He is driven at work by his desire to make a change, not just in Missouri but also in other parts of the country. Boosa Smoove talks about his work. “I’m currently working on developing new sounds of music and my personal style of rapping. I got a single and short-film project dropping in early November called ‘Never Change’. We are also dropping our first GuallaFam EP Mid to late October.”

As an overall talented and diverse person, Boosa Smoove remains consistent and always has projects coming up. “What is inspiring me is My family. I want to get to the point where my parents and siblings—two of which have disabilities–do not need to worry about money ever again. Another form of inspiration is just the mindset of. Why not make the most out of anything you have the chance to go do? Even if it seems out of the ordinary. To be fair you could say I have a lot on my plate working towards becoming a physician as well as learning and making music at the same time. However, I want to make change in not only this community but communities across the world of people who are indifferent about trying to pursue two considerably daunting fields of work as both have difficulty in being successful but still resonate with me in what I want to do in life. If you really focus and really truly want it, you will be able to do it regardless of difficulty. When it comes to medicine, I want to break the barrier between doctors and patients who look like me, who in many communities may fear going to the doctor out of a lack of trust in efficacy, I want to provide care that ensures specific and unique care that each patient individually needs, taking into consideration their specific situation as well as building a connection through being able to relate with me. Breaking the socio economic barrier in healthcare is what I strive to make a difference in as well. Another drive in the healthcare and in the biomedical science field is to conduct research on Trisomy 18 or Edwards syndrome as there is a lack of intensive research in the field working towards a disease modifier. I grew up witnessing how Trisomy 18 affected my sister and I want to do right by her in trying my best to make it better for other kids who have to go through this very debilitating genetic disease.” The multi creative artist and pre medical student, based out of Missouri, aims to make a statement with his current and future projects and uses his inspiration as a powerful force moving forward. Boosa Smoove is known to be a hustler, respectful, and forgiving, and he has been positively inspiring others to become better. He leads by example, and has great precision and consistency as a multifaceted individual.”

How have you overcome struggles to be where you are now?

Being an afro-Arab Muslim is the US for sure has its struggles. However, when it comes to dealing with peopleI learned from a young age to never take things personally from someone that you know for a fact does not know any better than what they are presenting with when it comes to banter.

I also always do a debriefing every few months to look back and see what I have gotten done. It allows me to appreciate progress and envision what I want to do going forward at the same time.

I keep close ties with my family and always lean on them for support and advice as they always have my back. I also have learned that in order to overcome a struggle, you have to be honest with yourself and take away excuses. At the end of the day if you really want something to happen you are going to put in your best effort to make sure it does.

Boosa Smoove explained that the motivation came from seeing the success of his work and also not giving up. “The biggest obstacle I have had to overcome was getting started and finding a true circle of individuals to surround myself with who have the same mindset. Finding the right people has helped me kickstart my music by having a group of people to bounce ideas off of and work with and go through the minor struggles with.” Boosa Smoove has worked with many different people to reach different goals, and he has always done a good job. He works well with others and talks about people who have been important in his life. “The most influential people in my life are my mother and Father who have taught me all the necessary tools to navigate life and I am forever grateful for them. Within the music industry. JuiceWRLD.”

Boosa Smoove explains that this was a major motivation in his life and gives a piece of advice for others to take back. “If you really want something to happen, go get it. Don’t wait for the ‘right time’. Don’t care about the opinion of others who can’t see the vision you have. There will always be people in life that will love and hate, and a lot of the times they come and go. It’s just a part of it, the sooner you block that out and focus on what’s best for you, the better. With that being said you should still work to surround yourself with like-minded individuals and try to keep your network with people who are working for a purpose.”
