Meet Big Gang, The Evolution Of Manager and A&R

SEPTEMBER 2022- KILLEEN, TEXAS-

Big Gang, is a business owner from the Chicago, Illinois area, now residing in Killeen, Texas. Big Gang has goals that are definitely worth hearing about. "I’m the CEO of NQA so I’m more so focused on the projects that my artists have coming up next so big shout out to all my artists and team at NQA management and media. And Double O Records.. also the NQA merchandise store that’s opening 2nd week of October. So that’s been my main focus along with the weekly playlists that I curate on Apple Music.” Big Gang has been making a solid base in his city and has great intentions in mind with his work. Seen at shows in Dallas this year specifically, he makes a difference in the business with his leading skills.

Known as loyal, relentless and resilient, Big Gang comes from humble beginnings and has strong passions for his upcoming work. “I never looked at things as where I am. I just kept progressing and moving forward. Staying hungry. And understanding life is not a race it’s truly a marathon. Greatness goes through pain.”

Where are you from?

Chicago Illinois born and raised. Low end section. 39th. Bronzeville area of Chicago. Wentworth Gardens projects.

What is inspiring you right now consistently to work on your endeavors?

Honestly My kids. My family. My love of this culture we call hip-hop. My artists. And the people that support me from near to far that shit goes a long way

What piece of advice do you want others to take back from the work you display?

Bet on yourself. Believe in yourself. They're gone call you crazy. Map your dream out, don't be scared to fail. Look at my work and realize I started NQA with $15 now I’m responsible for 3 signings to a major indie label and I secured a distribution deal for my management company all in the span of 3 1/2 years. Best advice? Stay consistent and hungry.

What do you have coming up right now that you want others to know about?

Man, the year end about to be crazy leading into 2023. The whole team is going crazy!! Chelly Flame is about to drop more videos and the album is coming soon. Diino1x about to drop. We just added TRAPBABY 43 to the team. Jose Trillz just dropped his project “oh trill'' and his album earlier this year so that’s been a blessing. KD NELLEY about to drop another single. Jay lev has also been going off!! I’ve also been doing artist consultations and being a special advisor to artists such as Cyia Carter and Tango Spazzin and Lil Boss luck Out of Chicago.. The store about to open me and my business partner COO Dominica Hunt-Carey Been holding the business down and we got more endeavors coming.

Even though Big Gang is devoted to perfecting the art of his craft to the highest level, his hardships have made him want to do even better in his business as well. “I understand it wasn’t a loss, I was learning lessons. I had to overcome hate and adversity from people I knew and had to accept help from people I didn’t know. Crazy right? I was homeless for a while. I wasn’t focused. Everybody I come in contact with my dream? Didn’t believe it. I wasn’t trying to do better. My biggest obstacle was myself. Everything else was just in my way.” Big Gang is now focused on continuing to be the best in his city, so that he can build on his already strong foundation even more than it already is.

Big Gang mentions within the interview that certain individuals in his life have inspired him to be great, starting from his own family. “majority of them are gone. Sadly. My father. He was the standard to me. Dominic Difrisco. He was my surrogate father and taught me so much about life outside the block and streets. My mother of course the strongest nigga I know (yep I said that) my best friend Joseph McKnight aka mooka he told me I would be great before I got here.. My GYMB family. They held me to a standard when I couldn’t even see it myself. Dj Dacickone and KC Dollaz as individuals they taught me the game with just being examples of Donnie Cash of GDMG and Double O records, he gave me the courage to step out and do something different. I’ll just end the interview like this. Long live Doe Boi and 30 I’ll never forget y’all. NQA GOT NOW WE DONT GIVE A FUCK who got next. S/o to THE EVERYONE THAT SUPPORT ME AND MY ENDEAVORS I LOVE YALL AND WOULDN'T BE SHIT WITHOUT YALL.”

As a result of the COVID-19 epidemic, a lot of big-crowd events, like concerts and festivals, were banned in 2021. This was because of restrictions put in place by both the city and the federal government. As a result, the number of chances for artists to show off their skills has been dramatically cut down. However, Big Gang remained steadfast through it all.
